HII is Awarded Long-Lead Time Materials Contract for CVN 82

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Sept. 11, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HII (NYSE: HII) announced today that it has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Navy to start procurement of long-lead time materials (LLTM) for the construction of planned aircraft carrier CVN 82 at its Newport News Shipbuilding division.

The $336 million undefinitized contract award will initiate advanced procurement of propulsion plant materials critical to the future construction of CVN 82.

“Ordering the materials necessary to build the world’s mightiest aircraft carriers is a critical first step as we begin planning for CVN 82,” said Bryan Caccavale, NNS vice president of program management. “This contract sends an important demand signal to the thousands of suppliers across the nation who make up the aircraft carrier industrial base.”

CVN 82 will continue the legacy of highly capable nuclear-powered U.S. aircraft carriers.
